From Camana the Pan Americana does not represent any difficulties until the turn-off to Quilca (Km 852, toll booth, asphalted road). At this point the road turns away from the coast line and begins to climb steeply ( Cuesta del Toro, foggy area) until Km 925, where the uphill drive becomes less steep, crossing the pampas of Sihuas and the irrigation of Majes. After passing the tunnel “El Impertinente” and the deviation to Vitor (Km 955) (Used to be km 948) you arrive at the distribution (Km 974) (Used to be Km 966). In this place the Pan Americana highway shares some kilometres with route 30, which leads you to Matarani, towards Arequipa, turn right until the deviation to La Pampa de la Joya (Very foggy zone) and turn left before passing the tunnels Fiscal 1 & 2 (Zig Zag road, very tight curves which are not totally sign posted) afterwards you will leave behind the crossing to Cocachacra, bording the hill sides of Chucarapi and cross Pampas Salinas. Finally you leave the sea coast line behind passing by La Pampas Clemesi, ciñe hill top Pan de Azúcar and arrive to the deviation to Moquegua.
