Nazca – Camaná

Distance: 391 kms. Estimated duration: 5-6hrs.
Before initiating this stage it is important to take into consideration that the area between Nazca and Chala are deserted and has only few gas stations, the same conditions is between Ocoña y Camaná. Between Nazca (Km 450) and Camana (Km 841) the highway sporadically runs close to the coast line and pierces a lengthy dessert area. The highway also runs through vast dessert areas between the mining centres of Marcona and Acari (Km 489 and km 525). Passes bye the turn off to Lomas (Km 533) until reaching the valley of Chaviña (km 558) and Yauca (km 572). Runs near the Cordillera of the coast, this zone has many tight curves and nearly always moist or rainy, also sand may slide on to the road and also foggy conditions, this road crosses the valley of Antiquipa (Km 601). Descents from steep down slopes until arriving in Chala (km 620, service stations available) Between Chala and Atico (Km 709 where there is a police check point and a toll booth) there are many curves and between Atico and La Planchada (Km 762) sections which has mud and sand slides, also you may encounter stormy winds with sand (Paracas). On the last section, La Planchada-Camana, you cross the Ocoña bridge (360 mts) three tunnels and a Police check point as well as the town of Ocoña (Km 784, where you will find a service station) The city of Camana in which you will find all required services is located at Km 841.
