Distance: 232 kms. Estimated duration: 5 – 6hrs.
Asphalted road in good conditions and well signalized until Cerro de Pasco; from there on the road is in a regular state (Please be aware of holes on the road).
La Oroya – Junin (54 kms). This road section crosses the deviation to Tarma (Las Vegas km 22) continues in parallel to the River Paccha and ascends to the plateau of Bombon. Crosses at km 214 the deviation to San Pedro de Cajas and afterwards passes bye the historical Sanctuary of Chacamarca where you can see the commemorative monument of the battle of Junin. 54 kms from La Oroya you will reach the turn-off point to the city of Junin.
Junin – Deviation to Cerro de Pasco (64 kms). This route is very difficult due to the hight which crosses the plateau of Chinchaycocha which has various straight long road planes ( you can appreciate the Lake of Junin) and after 30 kms you arrive at the town of Carhuamayo. From this point after 8 kms you will pass bye the town of Ninacaca and 20 kms more Vicco known as a mining town. After 9 more kms you will find the deviation to Cerro de Pasco.
Deviation Cerro de Pasco – Huanuco (114 kms). A very strong downhill drive with dangerous curves. From Chicrin onward the road is in regular conditions. You may find mudslides on the road during rainy season (November till May). Important waypoints before arriving in Huanuco are the towns of Huarica (Km 175), San Rafael (Km 182) and Ambo (Km 211).
